Educational Bursary

Stittsville Girls Hockey Association (SGHA) is pleased to announce that we will again be awarding educational bursaries to graduates of the Stittsville Rockets U18 program.

The bursary will come in the form of a cheque on the player’s behalf to be used toward offsetting the costs of attendance at their post-secondary institution of choice.

SGHA wishes to recognize its players who are advancing to college or university to pursue their academics. A bursary will be awarded to each of the successful applicants who must have been a registered U18 competitive or house league player in the 2024-25 season.

Those selected for the bursary will be chosen based on who best exemplifies:

Sportsmanship and fair play
Personal contribution to your team
Experience and contribution within the SGHA
Ambition and direction in achieving life goals
Academic achievement
Community participation through student volunteer hours

Applicants must complete the Application Form and attach the following documents:

An essay detailing your: life goals and plans to achieve them; your philosophy on sports and teamwork, and the impact the SGHA has had on you personally; experience contributing to your SGHA teams; and your contribution to the community through volunteer work.
Attach a clear copy of your volunteer hours work sheets (Community Involvement Activity Notification and Completion Sheet), or a screen shot that shows the total number of hours accumulated.
Attach a letter from one of your current and/or former coaches detailing your personal contribution to and leadership on the team.

All applications must be submitted online by May 4, 2025 and should include all relevant materials listed above.

Selection of recipient(s) will be made in early June by the selection committee which is comprised of members of the SGHA Executive Committee.
